Dr. Jim and Kay Hines

August 25, 2009

Having experienced a growing desire to give back to the Lord some of the goodness He had given to them, Jim and Kay decided to suspend his 27 year medical practice as an Internist and travel to Guatemala to begin Spanish language school in August of 2004.

That was 5 years ago and the beginning of an adventure that they could not have imagined possible.

Upon completion of a little over 4 months of school while living with a Guatemalan family, it was time to launch out into ministry.   A fellow missionary suggested lunch with Paul and Lana Sanders who were Directors of Prince of Peace Home for Girls and during this time Paul laid out his vision for Prince of Peace.  The vision of the founder, Al Sanchez, had included a medical clinic which had recently been built and Prince of Peace was praying for a doctor to come serve there.

We attended the official opening of the clinic and began to work there while being invited to various events at Prince of Peace.

Before long, Jim and Kay were involved physically and emotionally with the lives of the girls at Prince of Peace and a long and lovely relationship continues.

The clinic (Clinica Esperanza) at Prince of Peace opens its doors each Monday and Wednesday from 1 – 5 p.m. to the poor who live in the areas around P of P and hopefully has been able to affect many lives physically as well as spiritually.
