SPONSOR INFORMATION SHEET

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The suggested amount for a Child Sponsor is $30 per month, although the Sponsor may contribute more or less and may increase or decrease that amount at any time.  The amount may be sent monthly ($30), quarterly ($90), or annually ($360).  Please indicate on the reply envelope, on the check or in a separate note the name of the child.  All contributions are tax-deductible, and the thank you letters you receive will serve as your tax-deductible receipt.

All contributions are deposited into the Prince of Peace account there, and we write checks here to exchange into Guatemalan currency to care for the needs of the child.

The Sponsor is encourage to continue sponsoring the child as long as she remains in the Home.  When the child leaves, the sponsor will be encouraged to sponsor another child.

CORRESPONDENCE

The Sponsor may write to the child as often as they wish

The child will write and initial letter to the Sponsor, two letters annually (usually in May and November), and a Christmas card.

All correspondence will be handled through our office in Guatemala and translated there.

Mail to the child should be addressed to our local Correspondence Address:

Letters to the child should not include the Sponsor's home address or telephone number, although the address may appear on the envelope.  The Sponsor's address will not be supplied ot the child to avoid any possible misuse of the information.

VISITS

The Sponsor may visit the child as often as possible, but may not take the child away from the Home without the permission from the director.

GIFTS

The Sponsor may contribute funds for special occasion, such as Christmas and the child's birthday.  The suggested amount is $5 to $20 per gift and should be sent to the Support Address shown above, marked to indicate that it is a special gift for your sponsored child.  The Home will purchase a gift for the girl in keeping with her best interests.  If the contributions exceeds the cost of the gift, the excess will be placed in a Gift Fund to be used for gifts for other girls in the Home who may not yet have a Sponsor.

Sending packages is not practical because of the high cost of postage, customs duty , and the purchase of the gift itself can easily exceed the value of the gift.  There is also the uncertainty of the mail service in Guatemala.

Small, flat, lightweight items such as bookmarks, photographs, etc. which can be included in an envelope with the letter are acceptable.

OTHER COMMUNICATION

An annual Progress Report on the child will be sent to the sponsor by the Home, as well as regular newsletters.

Sponsor Curriculum packets at $45 per quarter or $135 per year!!  We are trying to get Hebron (Christian Curriculum approved by the Guatemalan government) for each of the girls.  It is great materials, but somewhat costly.  If you would like to help with this, simply send your check or on paypal, designate for how many curriculum packets, and again, thanks!
