Adela

Adela is from San Luis Peten, and she speaks Poqomam. Adela and her sister Deisy both live at the home.  Adela is a fantastic cook, and regularly leads the independent living girls in cooking for visiting teams.

Alejandra

Alejandra has had many very difficult experiences in her life. From the age of one to ten she lived with a lady who forced her to sell tamales and jell-o on the streets. Because she had to work, she was not able to attend school. She now attends school on campus and is very grateful to God because she knows that HE brought her here to a safe and loving home.

Alejandra also has a younger brother who lives in another Children’s home where she sometimes visits. In additional to school on-site, she also attends American Latina on Saturday.

Alicia

She is from Quiche .

She does not have any legal papers of her birth since she was born at home so we are not sure about her exact age. She was never able to attend school before coming to Prince of Peace. Alicia needs much support, love, and continues to get psychological help here at the home.

Ana

Ana is from El Salvador where she worked selling seeds and picking up wood. She was brought to Guatemala by her aunt because the family said they could not send Ana to school.

Ana first attended school as an eleven year old when she came to Prince of Peace. She appreciates our help because she wants to study and be successful in her life. Ana is now in Independent Living and continues to do very well as she matures into a young woman. She has her passport now, so it is now possible for her to visit her family in El Salvador. Ana is the drummer for our girls’ praise team and is very talented.

Anay

Anay is the older sister of Lisbeth and Karen.

Without financial support, their mother was no longer able to support them. She requested that the girls be allowed to live at Prince of Peace so they would have opportunities. Anay is happy to be here with her sisters and is adjusting well. She is a warm and loving young lady.

Blanca

Blanca and her two sisters, Rosita and Silvia, have returned back to Prince of Peace after 18 months. They were sent to live with their stepsister and her husband in 2008 after living at POP for several years.

Blanca has a very sweet disposition and is happy to be back at POP. Blanca’s mother died in 2007, but she was too young to realize what happened to her mother and has asked for her many times. All the teams love to call her “Blanquita”.

Carol

Carol and her family were abandoned by their father. Her mother was no longer able to provide economically for her four children. Their simple home was also destroyed by a Hurricane. All this led to Carol and her younger sister Jasmin being placed in our Home by the Juvenile Courts for their protection.

Carol has grown so much over the years since coming here. She has found the Lord and has a real compassion for others. She often finds time to share and pray with others. Her smile has a way of warming your heart. She is doing well in school and speaks and writes excellent English. Carol is a leader in the Independent Living program. She has a good relationship with the other girls and is very responsible. She has a passion for and is an extremely talented artist. Several team members have purchased paintings from her and she has had two paintings “printed” for sale.

Daniela

Daniela came to the Home with her older sister Fernanda by court order.

She is very talkative and smiles a lot. She has had some trouble adapting to the home, but she understands that she and her sister need to be in a safe place.

Dapne

Dapne was placed at Prince of Peace for at least three years by order of the Judge. She was previously in another home which closed. Dapne is the sister of Velveth and Estefany.

Dapne is a precious and loving little girl who interacts well with the other girls and visiting teams.

Deisy

DEISY is from San Luis Petén, and she speaks Poqomam. Deisy’s older sister, Adela, also lives at the home. Their mother asked that they come to live at Prince of Peace because she was no longer able to care for the girls.

Deisy is a very good young lady and enjoys living at Prince of Peace. She is friendly and kind. She is very responsible and has good relationships with the other girls.

Dulce

Dulce initially lived at Prince of Peace for two years before being sent to another home to be united with her brother. During that time, her grandmother asked for the two children to be returned to her because their father had moved out of the house and remarried.

Dulce returned to Prince of Peace by court order at the request of her grandmother who comes to visit her every visitation day. She requests that you pray that God will change the sadness in her heart.

Elena

This is Maria Elena and she is 12 years old. She used to live in San Marcos, about 6 to 8 hours by bus from the city. Her mother abandoned her and she was living with her grandmother here in Guatemala City.

Her grandmother was beating her and Maria Elena ran away to the house of a neighbor, and they took Maria to the court for protection. She is a very happy girl that is in need of guidance and love. Please pray for Maria Elena that she will be able to find peace and comfort here as she begins her healing process.

Elizabeth

ELIZABETH was sent here by the courts because her mother abandoned her and no one knows who her father is.

The judge ruled she will be at Prince of Peace indefinitely. She is a sweet girl who seems very happy to have a true family at Prince of Peace.

Elizabeth has had much change in her young life but is now receiving psychological help with interpersonal relationships. This, along with learning to trust God, will be a tremendous help to her in the future.

Estefany

Estefany was sent to Prince of Peace by a court order. She had been living in another home with her little sisters—Velveth and ---for the past three years.

The girls come from a very broken home where both parents have extensive problems with the law. She really desires to study and is happy living at Prince of Peace with her sisters.

Fernanda

Fernanda is feeling very happy about being at Prince of Peace with her sister Daniela and knows they are both safe here.

Flor

FLOR comes from a very poor, dysfunctional family with many problems. She always has a big smile and is very happy at Prince of Peace.

Flor is a sweet and lovable young lady and continues to need professional counseling as well as the love of those around her.

Jaqueline

Jaqueline entered the home with her older sister Mabel by order of the Court for Children and adolescents because she was abandoned by her family. She has grown up with her older sister but they did not have any financial resources for education, housing or food.

They were also threatened while living there. Jaqueline is a responsible young lady who wants to continue studying.

Jasmin

Jasmín and her sister Carol sent to Prince of Peace by the court after their father abandoned by the family. Without help, their mother was no longer able to provide for the girls economically. To make matters even worse, their home was destroyed by Hurricane Mitch.

Jasmin has grown up physically but emotionally she is still often longs for her mother. Thankfully, their mother visits, but is still unable to care for her or Carol. Jasmin loves Prince of Peace, but would prefer to live in her own home together as a family. Jasmin is very talented and does well in school and gets along well with the other girls at the home.

Jenifer

Jenifer and Yohana are sisters.

The mother finally was able to find Jenifer and then asked to have her placed here at Prince of Peace to be with her sister Yohana. She is a sweet girl and wants to study and learn. She is so happy to be with her sister.

Jennifer is now doing very well in the home. She is well behaved in her home and in school. She enjoys school and makes good grades and has a very bright future with love and assistance.

Joselin 1

JOSELIN and Lisdenia are twins. They with their younger sister, Marjorie, were abandoned by their mother 7 years ago and their father can not be located.

Joselin comes from a very poor family and was living with her grandmother before coming to the home. The grandmother’s economic situation simply did not allow her to send the girls to school.

Joselin is a very responsible young lady who and works extremely hard in school. She is now living in the Independent Living house and doing well. She plays the guitar for the praise team at Prince of Peace. She has been to the United States two times since 2010 and her English skills have improved dramatically as a result.

Julissa

Julissa entered the home by court order for children and adolescents. Prior to coming to the home, she lived with a woman who gave her support. Julissa’s mother is unable to provide for her due to her father’s abandonment of the family leaving them with a poor and broken home. She is in the sixth grade, has adapted well to the home, and is a respectful, obedient, and lovable teenager.

Karen

Karen is the youngest sister of Lisbeth and Anay.

Their father is an alcoholic who abandoned them and their mother. Without his help, their mother was no longer able to support them. She asked us to take the girls at the Prince of Peace to allow them to study and have opportunity. Karen has physical problems with one of her hands which cannot be treated. She has a special smile for everyone to see and is a wonderful girl who enjoys school.

Katy

Katy is a very smart, loving, and kind young lady who is grateful for Prince of Peace and the opportunity to attend school.She also has two sisters in another home.

Katy is a very appreciative young lady. She now lives in one of our Independent Living houses and is doing quite well. In spite of all the adversity in her life, Katy continues to love and trust God. She is responsible and is a fantastic student. She was the first to go to American Latina and did so well we now send 9 other young ladies there to study during the week and 10 on the weekend.

Lisbeth

Lisbeth, Anay and Karen are sisters. Along, their mother was no longer able to support them. She asked us to allow the girls to come to live at the Home because she was simply unable to provide care or send them to school. Lisbeth is a loving girl with a beautiful smile and always wants a hug.

Lisdenia

LISDENIA and Joselin are twins. They, along with their younger sister Marjorie, were abandoned by their mother and their father cannot be located. Lisdenia comes from a very poor family. She was living with her grandmother who could not afford to send any of the girls to school.

Lisdenia always has a smile and loves to have fun. She is very responsible, works hard and does extremely well in school. She appreciates Prince of Peace and all the love she receives here. She lives in the Independent Living and is doing well. Lisdenia has visited the United States two times since 2010 and continues to improve her English skills.

Lizet

Lizet was abandoned by her parents and was living with a foster family when she came to Prince of Peace.

The courts stepped in and placed her at the home so she could be safe and attend school.

Lizet no longer needs medicine and is doing very well. She came with a deep hurt in her heart, much bitterness and some depression but now has a good relationship with the girls and housemothers. We are so proud of Lizet for passing two years’ school in one year--even though she had never attended school before coming to Prince of Peace. We praise God for these victories in Lizet’s life.

Lucerito

Lucerito used to live with her mother, siblings and with the family of her aunt.

Lucerito is a shy, sweet young lady and is happy to be at the home. She is also willing to keep studying and desires to succeed in life.

Lucia

Lucia’s mother is deceased.. The Judge then sent Lucia to Prince of Peace. She is shy but has fit in well with the other girls. Love, patience and understanding are all components to her healing.

Mabel

Mabel entered the home by court order for children and adolescents. Her younger sister, Jaqeuline, is also living at Prince of Peace.

Maria

entered the home by court order for children and adolescents. She is from the department of Quiché and has difficulty speaking the Spanish language because her language is Quiche. She lived with her father and stepmother near the market, but this area is not a safe area. Her mother died and the rest of her family lives in the City of San Antonio Ilotenango Quiché. It has been difficult for Maria to adjust to the home. When she first entered the home, she cried, screamed, and did not want to participate with the girls. She is quickly changing and adjusting to life at the home. Maria can now be found playing, laughing, and smiling with the other girls. Her aunt said she is orderly and obedient.

Marielos

Marielos returned to the home after asking the court to place her here. She has never lived with her parents because they have not provided care for her or her brother. She left Principe de Paz for one year and during that year her older sister provided for her education. Marielos has never lived with them or been given educational opportunities by them. During her social worker’s visit to her older sister’s home, Marielos asked to be returned to Principe de Paz. She is a sweet, helpful, smart young lady who studies hard and would like to continue her education.

Marjorie

MARJORIE was abandoned by her mother when she was 1-year-old. She is the youngest of six sisters and thinks of her grandmother as her mother. Her twin sisters, Lisdenia and Joselin are here with her at Prince of Peace. Her family was not able to provide an education and safe environment for the girls so there Grandmother brought them here to be safe and attend school. Marjorie attends school on Saturday’s at American Latina and is a very good soccer player.

Mayra

Mayra’s sister-in-law took her in, but because of economic problems in the home simply could not keep her there.

Mayra is a very special young lady who has done well at Prince of Peace. She recently spent 3 months in the United States living in Richmond, Kentucky and volunteering in a private Christian school. She is always willing to help others. She is growing in her walk with the Lord and has many dreams that she can achieve something special in her life.

Mayra 2

MAYRA is originally from the region of Peten and entered the home by court order because she is in the process of being adopted. She is here to wait for the courts to make a decision about the adoption. She is a sweet little girl who has adjusted well to the home. She loves to interact with the teams from the United States.

Odilia

ODILIA is from Sumpango, Sacatepequez, where the people speak Kakchiquel. Her family is very poor.

Odilia is now in Independent Living where she has a good relationship with the other girls. She has a wonderful personality and is always willing to help. She studies hard and wants to accomplish so much with her life. Although she has had deep hurt, she has allowed God to heal her and she now has a smile.

Reyna Emilia

REYNA EMILIA was placed in another children’s home in 2001 by the Juvenile Court. That home closed in November 2003 so she was placed with us.

She is very happy to be at Prince of Peace.

Reyna Emilia has matured measurably this past year. She now attends school at American Latina and is doing well.

Rosita

Rosa, along with her two sisters Blanca and Silvia, returned to Prince of Peace after being away living with their older stepsister. These three sisters are glad to be back at Prince of Peace and Rosa says that she loves to be here in the Home because she feels secure. She is a sweet girl that appreciates love and compassion she receives at Prince of Peace.

Rubi

Sarai

Sarai was admitted to the home at the request of the Attorney General's Office. She was lost when the authorities found her indicating that the situation with her family is not safe. Sarai does not want to return to live with her mother. The reports indicate that she has five brothers. Her case is currently under investigation by the Attorney General's Office. Sarai is an energetic, sweet little girl and enjoys playing and entertaining all those she captures with her personality and smile.

Sheyla

Silvia

In 2007 while Silvia and her two sisters were living at Prince of Peace.

In 2009, Silvia and her two sisters, Rosa and Blanca were sent back to Prince of Peace. Silvia, with remarkable strength, asked the Court to send them back to the home because she feels safe here. She is a kind and lovely young lady, and has a strong desire to continue with her education. She has endured many very difficult situations but has a dream one day to become a doctor!

Velveth

VELVETH came to Prince of Peace by order of the court. She and her sisters lived in another children’s home which has since closed. A professional social worker shared with our social worker that the family will not be a resource for Velveth or her sisters. She is a sweet and loving little girl who continues to grow and learn here at the home.

Veronica

viviana

VIVIANA was placed in the Home because her aunt asked the courts for help. Her aunt is 62 years old, washes cars for a living, and lives in a place without water or electricity. She said that Viviana does not know her father and her mother abandoned her when she was 16 months old.

She is very hyperactive and has a delightful personality.

Viviana has grown so much since coming here. She is a bundle of joy and gives the biggest hugs ever to anyone visiting. Her laughter is contagious and she always wants to talk with you. She is not afraid to meet new people and wants to tell them all about herself when they come.

Yaneth 2

Yeymy

Yeymy entered the home by court order because two women claim to be her mother. The courts ordered a DNA analysis and an investigation to learn the truth. She is a precious little girl who bonds quickly with visiting teams from the States. She needs lots of love and knows she is safe at Prince of Peace.

Yojana

YOJANA, along with her younger sister Jenifer, was placed in Prince of Peace by order of the court.

She comes from a very large, poor family.

Yojana is doing well at Prince of Peace. Her self esteem has improved greatly and she has forgiven her father. The family also receives counseling from a psychologist to improve the relationship. Yojana has goals and wants to complete her education. She attends school off campus at American Latina.

Yoselin 2

YOSELIN was born in San Marcos, Guatemala, and comes from a poor, broken family.

She asked for help from a teacher who took her to the courts who then placed her in Prince of Peace.

Yoselin has grown so much since coming here. She is doing well and now attends school at American Latina. She has a special smile and likes to meet new people. Her relationship with her mother has improved but she continues to need counseling. She would love to return to her family but today that is not possible.
